THERAPEUTIC RECREATION

Therapeutic Recreation (TR) encompasses activities that touch different areas of the client including physical, emotional, social, cognitive and spiritual aspects.  Therapeutic Recreationists have completed a College Diploma or a University Degree specific to the field of recreation. Recreationists work with clients who may be in hospital, Long Term Care, Retirement Homes, aging at home, persons with developmental disability. Clients may be persons with physical or cognitive decline (dementia) or someone in need of social engagement.

Denise holds a degree in Physical Education and a Diploma in Recreation and Leisure Services. Sessions presented by Niagara Mountainside Therapeutic Services will utilize concepts of Montessori based, creative activities that are geared to the goals, abilities, interests and needs of each individual client.  

 
Yoga classes

YOGA CLASSES

Niagara Mountainside Therapeutic Services also offers a variety of yoga styles in private or group sessions, over the Zoom format and now in-person. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced yogi, want to learn or tweak asanas (aka poses), start or re-start your practice, feel stronger in your body or more relaxed, Denise is able to encourage and guide you.

Denise is a member of Canadian Yoga Alliance, currently holds a CYA-E-RYT 500 certification level. She received her 200 and 300 hour yoga teacher trainings through Power Yoga Canada. NMTS currently offers classes in Power Flow Yoga, Slow Flow Power Yoga, Yin Yoga, Chair Yoga or Rest & Restore Mindful Meditative Movement.

Denise has been practicing yoga since the late 1990’s.
